International Cultural Fest at Newport

The second International Cultural Festival takes place at the Jersey City waterfront community of Newport today from 1 to 7:30 p.m.
On tap to perform is singer-songwriter John Sebastian, soul singer and Newport resident
N'Kenge, Brady Cudmore,
the Reminiscents from the Jersey City Arts High School, Anejos, and the flamenco guitarist
Carlos Revoller with dancers David and Laura Castellano.
There will also be plenty of activities for the kids, plus cuisines from around the world.
The proceeds from food sales will go toward bringing a business branch library to the waterfront, organizers said.

The proceeds from food sales will go toward bringing a business branch library to the waterfront, organizers said. Head to the waterfront high-rises of the Newport neighborhood in downtown Jersey City from 1 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the second annual International Cultural Festival.

Leading the music lineup is singer-songwriter John Sebastian. Also on the bill is soul singer and Newport resident N'Kenge, Brady Cudmore, the Reminiscents from the Jersey City Arts High School, Anejos, and flamenco guitarist Carlos Revoller with dancers David and Laura Castellano. There will also be kids' activities.

On top of all the music and dancing, you can sample global cuisines from such local favorites as Madame Claude's Cafe, Amiya, Ole, Nanking and others. Vendors from area retailers also will be on hand
The proceeds from food sales will go to the sponsoring Newport News Association's goal of bringing a business branch library to the waterfront. There also will be a silent auction and raffle with items donated by artists and merchants.
The festival is on Pavonia Avenue across from the Newport/Pavonia PATH station.
