Janice "Skate Dancing" with the boys!

More Children at Camp Haze enjoying the "Skate Dance"
The kids got up last night, those little boys standing in the front of the room, holding each other around dancing to the music, it’s a release. You know? You go out dancing at night and you just like to get it all out of you and just listening to something positive that has a great beat and certainly diversity in the group just really works with us within this camp and I thank you.” Dan: “What about last night’s performance? Did you notice a difference from last year’s at all?” Janice: “Well, there was a lot more singers there so there was more diversity and I think that was good because we have children from all different backgrounds. I think there was a lot more participation this year, I think the kids got up a lot and they were not as intimidated. Don’t forget we don’t have most of the same children this year and it’s the second year of a loss so you’re dealing with different perspectives than the year before.” Dan: “What about the song ‘Skate Dance?’” Janice: “Oh that was so much fun! That was so much fun for the kids! Do you know why? It’s because it’s a type of song where they participate with you. That’s what drew them in was the participation. It’s one thing when you just sit there and you listen and most of these kids are so little it’s hard for them to just sit and listen, they have to be doing something. People
love feeling connected and if you find that little niche that makes them feel connected to each other, you got it made!” After my discussion with Janice, David and I headed back to the hotel to get everyone together, pack, check out, and head out for breakfast before going back to Camp Haze for an afternoon performance. We walked over to the diner a block from the hotel and I had one of the most delicious breakfasts I have ever eaten: short stack of pancakes! Soon we headed out of the diner and back into the vans.

U B U!
